






Ranma 1/2 (Ranma Nibun no Ichi) is simply amazing. Not only has it been an enormous success in Japan since late 1980s, the story of Ranma and his friends continues to inspire various artists and readers around the world today as one of the most entertaining and influential products in the international anime/manga market.

- Ranma 1/2 is Rumiko Takahashi's best-selling work: over 53,000,000 copies of the manga have been sold within Japan as of 2007. If we count foreign sales... *whistle*
- The manga of Ranma has been released under 15 different languages and remains Takahashi's most translated work. Aha, we > Inu Yasha ;)
- Ranma the TV series continues to be one of the most popular anime works in Japan as could be observed from the country's rebroadcast schedule (plus viewer's request chart) in the past two decades. In fact, I first came across Ranma the anime through one of its re-run sessions in 1995.
- While character singles/albums are slowly becoming a common sight in today's anime music industry, Ranma 1/2 was one of the first generation anime that started such trends.
- The young seiyuu (voice actor/actress) crew of Ranma the anime has now become the veterans of their industry. Famous examples include Kappei Yamaguchi, Megumi Hayashibara, Kikuko Inoue, Toshihiko Seki, Akira Ishida and Mitsuaki Madono.
